Tõrise

Tõrise (German Terris ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural municipality Saaremaa (until 2017: rural municipality Lääne-Saare ) in the Saare district .
Population and location
The village has 28 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2016). Its area is 12.98 km².
About 100 meters to the north is the Tõrise järv water body of the same name .
The place is 22 kilometers north of the island's capital Kuressaare . It was first mentioned in a document in 1592.
Treasure find
In 1999 a silver treasure was found in Tõrise. There are almost 3000 coins from the end of the 16th and beginning of the 17th century.
