In 1422 and 1462 the village was plundered by the Counts of Katzenelnbogen . In terms of church, Bellingen was part of the Rotenhain parish until the early 20th century .

The Sottenbach desert was located around two kilometers southwest of Bellingen between the Kramberg and the origin of the southern source brook of the Enspeler brook. The place was mentioned for the first time as a settlement in 1299 and for the last time at the end of the 16th century, after that only as part of field names. Sottenbach was the origin of a local knight dynasty that was first mentioned in 1299 with a Heinrich and in 1476 with a Thiele for the last time. Its possessions extended in addition to rights in the surrounding area to the surrounding area of Limburg an der Lahn and on to Königstein im Taunus , north to Ewersbach and in the west to Kettig and Moselweiß .

Other field names in the Bellingen district indicate desertification , which has not yet been documented by other sources, including Käsbach, possibly two kilometers west-southwest of Bellingen, and Weizingen, south of the village in the direction of Langenhahn and Hintermühlen .
