Neunkirchen is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Rennerod .

Geographical location

The community is located in the Westerwald between the cities of Siegen (38 kilometers north), Wetzlar (28 kilometers east) and Limburg an der Lahn (19 kilometers south). Neunkirchen is the southernmost place that belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Rennerod.

The coat of arms is based on the old court seal, which was used between 1640 and 1655 and shows the head of John the Baptist in the middle.

Culture and sights

The tower of the Protestant church probably dates from the 12th century. The current nave was 1739/41 as a cross-church built.
