International jury
The jury president of the Berlinale 2015 was Darren Aronofsky . The American director, screenwriter and producer was praised by Berlinale director Kosslick as one of the "outstanding protagonists of contemporary auteur cinema", who repeatedly explores the cinematic language and its aesthetic possibilities in his artistic approach. Aronofsky made films about loss of reality and life on the edge of society. He achieved great success with the drama The Wrestler (Golden Lion of Venice 2008) and the ballet-based psychological thriller Black Swan (Oscar nomination 2011) in which he repeatedly explored the resilience and vulnerability of the human body. According to specialist reviews, his work is devoted to the “abysses of the human psyche” and the “misery of real life”. “There are always exciting and fascinating films at the Berlinale. I am looking forward to seeing the latest works by great filmmakers in one of the greatest cities in the world, ”says Aronofksy, who in the past had never presented any of his directorial work at the Berlin International Film Festival. He was in 2001 a member of the jury of the Sundance Film Festival that The Believer chose the best feature film. In 2011, Aronofsky, as the jury president of the Venice International Film Festival, chose Alexander Sokurov's Faust as the winner.
Several jury members were at the side of the jury president in awarding the prizes: Daniel Brühl , Bong Joon-ho , Martha De Laurentiis , Claudia Llosa , Audrey Tautou and Matthew Weiner .

The Arsenal cinema and the Embassy of Canada remained as additional venues.
The Forum Expanded series examines the relationship between cinema and other art forms. It is curated under the direction of Stefanie Schulte Strathaus . In 2015, under the program title “To the Sound of the Closing Door”, works were shown that are dedicated to the moments when doors close and potentially open up new possibilities: “They ask in which moments new projects and utopias can arise and how historical ruptures can arise and upheavals generate visions and expectations of the future. "
At the opening in the Akademie der Künste, the Palestinians Lara Khaldi and Yazan Khalili presented their performance Love Letters to a Union: The Falling Comrades .
As in 2014, the "Think: Film Award" was given in 2015 to work from the Forum-Expanded program . The award consists of an invitation to screenings in Berlin and Cairo and is financed by the Allianz Kulturstiftung .
