List of regatta courses

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list of regatta courses contains regatta courses that can be used for international competitions in canoeing , rowing and dragon boating . These are either created as artificial lakes specifically for sporting use or they are integrated into rivers or lakes . They usually meet the requirements of the International Rowing Federation (FISA) and the International Canoe Federation with a track length of at least 2000 meters and a width of about 120 meters.

Historic regatta courses can sometimes differ significantly from these dimensions. During the Olympic Games , public waters were used until the second half of the 20th century : for example the Seine in Paris in 1900 and 1924 or the Brussels-Scheldt Sea Canal in 1920 and the Sloten Canal in Amsterdam in 1928. Furthermore, estuaries such as Helsinki were found 1952 and bays like Djurgårdsbrunnsviken in Stockholm 1912 use. At the Olympic Games in 1896 , the rowing competitions were supposed to be held in the port of Piraeus , but they were canceled due to bad weather.
