German Open 2000 / men

The German Open 2000 was the 93rd edition of the clay court tournament in Hamburg . It took place as part of the ATP Masters Series at Rothenbaum in Hamburg . The 64-strong singles peloton played for $ 2,950,000 in prize money from May 15 to May 22, while the 32 doubles played for $ 2,450,000.

Defending champion in the singles was the Chilean Marcelo Ríos , who failed in the semifinals this year to Marat Safin . Gustavo Kuerten secured the title, winning his second tournament of the season.

The double tournament was won by the Australian pairing Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde , which was their fifth success this year. They replaced the also purely Australian doubles Wayne Arthurs and Andrew Kratzmann , who did not compete in this constellation. Arthurs made it to the finals with this year's partner Sandon Stolle .
