from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carinthia is divided into 132 politically independent municipalities. The list contains all community names and indented the cadastral communities (KG). Legend:

  • Parish name according to local government
    • Municipality name in normal script: there is also a cadastral municipality with the same name.
    • Municipality name in italics : there is no cadastral municipality with the same name.
  • The associated cadastral communities are indented.
    • Cadastral communities that are not also a locality are not linked.
  • Name underlined (if given): Main town of the municipality (name of the town according to the official statistics of Statistics Austria )
  • Note: The name of the cadastral municipality is listed in the official cadastre by the Federal Office for Metrology and Surveying , so the name of the municipality, the associated cadastral municipality, and the locality can be different
    • Name in brackets is newer spelling (renaming)

Territory: unknown

  • Individual places in a municipality can only be found on the district pages due to their size

This list should serve to write articles about missing places, therefore do not switch redirects to direct links. All articles about the places in this federal state can be found under Category: Place in Carinthia .

Slovenian place names

  • Any Slovenian place name follows the German name in brackets and in italics . See: List of Slovene field names in Carinthia .
  • For municipalities and localities in which the Topography Ordinance 1977 provides for bilingual topographic inscriptions, see the article Topography Ordinance for Carinthia (1977) .
  • The question of whether dialectal or high-level place names should be given preference is discussed controversially in the literature. The following list is based in the localities in which bilingual topographical inscriptions are or were provided, according to the relevant Federal Law Gazettes or ordinances (these are: BGBl. 1972/270, BGBl. 1977/306 and BGBl. 1977/308). In the other cases, Zdovc, Paul: Slovenska krajevna imena na avstrijskem Koroškem / The Slovenian place names in Carinthia, Tiskarna Mehitaristov - Mechitharisten-Buchdr., Dunaj / Vienna 1993 is used.
