Saint-Nicolas church

Ville-le-Marclet ( Picard : Ville-l'Marclet ) is a northern French municipality with 473 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens and belongs to the canton of Flixecourt .

geography

Ville-le-Marclet is located on the Nièvre northeast of Flixecourt . The district of Le Marclet is directly adjacent to Saint-Ouen in the canton of Domart-en-Ponthieu , whose foothills extend far into the municipality of Ville-le-Marclet. The A16 autoroute runs through the municipality with a junction. The commune also includes the farmsteads La Réderie (by post to Domart-en-Ponthieu ) and Bois-Riquier as well as La Cavée. The industrial area passes to the municipality of Flixecourt.

history

The municipality was called Ville-Saint-Ouen until 1899. In the 19th century, the textile industry began to develop through the Saint-Frères company, which also provided a siding. Agriculture remained an important branch of business. In the castle on the heights above the community, which was rebuilt after it was destroyed in 1912, the Gestapo and SS settled in during World War II .

economy

Today in Ville-le-Maclet there is a packaging factory (emerged from Saint-Frères), a meat factory, an alarm system company and several landscaping companies.
