Vergies ( Picard : shed ) is a northern French municipality with 163 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the Arrondissement of Amiens (since 2009) and is part of the Communauté de communes Somme Sud-Ouest and the canton of Poix-de-Picardie .
geography
The community is about nine kilometers west-southwest of Airaines and 7.5 kilometers east of Oisemont . The eastern part of Le Fay in the southwest on the road to Frettecuisse belongs to it (the other part of Fay belongs to Frettecuisse).
Toponymy and History
The community is mentioned as Verrisii in the Cartular of Sélincourt in 1180. Names like Vergie-le-Fay (from Latin fagus) are found later.
Until the 16th century the place was dependent on the Balleien Airaines and Arguel . The reign paid homage to Quesnoy-sur-Airaines . Local custom was established in 1507. At the end of the 19th century there were two windmills and a wandering still.
