Hamelet ( Picard : Hanmelet) is a northern French municipality with 630 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens and in the canton of Corbie and is part of the Communauté de communes du Val de Somme .

geography

The municipality, located in the valley on the left bank of the Somme, southeast of Corbie on the D71 departmental road, extends in a narrow strip to the south as far as the D1029 departmental road, the former National Route 29 . The Somme valley is here abundantly interspersed with ponds. According to Corbie, there is no direct connection.

history

The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
