Cerisy (formerly Cerisy-Gailly, Picard: Crisin or Crisin-Gaillin) is a northern French municipality with 531 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the canton of Corbie and is part of the Communauté de communes du Val de Somme .
geography
The mainly agricultural community is located in Santerre on the left bank of the Somme, which meanders here , opposite Chipilly, around 12 km east of Corbie and 12 km south of Albert and stretches south almost to the D1029 départemental road (former Route nationale 29 ). It stretches from the moored floodplain of the Somme over limestone surfaces to the flint soils in the south. Until the end of 1965, Cerisy owned the Gailly parish opposite Sailly-Laurette on the Somme, which was attached to the Sailly-Laurette parish on January 1, 1966.
Toponymy and History
In the 13th century a. a. called Cerisiacus went to the Corbie Abbey in the 7th century , which established a priory here. The manor was the castle of Bray-sur-Somme. There was a school since 1693.
The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award .
