Clairy-Saulchoix ( Picard : Clairy-Cheuchoé ) is a northern French municipality with 370 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens , is part of the Communauté d'agglomération Amiens Métropole and belongs to the canton of Ailly-sur-Somme .

history
During the work on the A29 autoroute, numerous Gallo-Roman traces came to light. The location on the road from Amiens to Rouen favored the development of a castle.
Clairy is first mentioned in 1152 as Clari . In the Middle Ages, the lords of Picquigny owned several estates in Clairy. Some of them were donated to the Le Gard monastery in the 12th century . In 1377 the Amiens Cathedral Chapter bought part of Clairy. In 1470 the castle was burned down by Burgundian troops. In 1595 the place was conquered by Spanish troops. At the end of the 16th century Clairy came to the House of Créquy . As a result of political intrigue, the castle was destroyed in the 17th century.
The high place was used by the German troops as an observation post during World War II .
