history
Contay was first mentioned as Cuntay in 1113 . In the 19th century, Contay was an important marketplace for the surrounding area, especially for the trade in farm animals. The size of the market square in front of the church and the boundary stones that have been preserved there, which limited the size of the market, testify to this activity. The church itself is the only surviving building from the Middle Ages ; its completion is dated to 1457.
