history
Excavations have unearthed remains from the Mesolithic period. Several Gallo-Roman and Merovingian dwellings have also been found. In the Middle Ages, viticulture was practiced in Salouël, as the field names attest. A fulling mill was operated on the Selle . The community has been shaped by handicrafts since the Middle Ages. The church separation from the parish in Saleux took place in 1864. Salouël has belonged to the canton of Boves since 1879. Since about 1970 university institutes and the "Hôpital Sud" have settled here.
