history
Stone tools found here testify to the prehistoric settlement. A branch of the historic Chaussée Brunehaut ran through Dury . The place is first mentioned in 710 as Duriacus . In 1080 Raoul de Dury transferred his possessions to the Chapter of Notre-Dame in Amiens. The castle was inhabited by the Picquet de Dourier family until the French Revolution . In 1726 and 1805, fires destroyed parts of the town. On November 27, 1870, the Prussian troops defeated the French in a battle. In the First World War Marshal struck Ferdinand Foch to his quarters here. In 1940 the Dury plateau was contested as well.
