Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte church

Yzeux is a French municipality with 267 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the canton of Ailly-sur-Somme and the municipal association Nièvre et Somme .

geography

Yzeux is located in the Somme valley in the area of the former county Amiénois , 16 kilometers northwest of Amiens and 4.2 kilometers northwest of the canton capital Picquigny , between the neighboring communities of Crouy-Saint-Pierre in the west and Belloy-sur-Somme in the east.

history

Yzeux was first mentioned in 1066 as Hysoi , 1129 as Issoi , 1204 as Yzeu and 1301 as Iseul . In 1160 Henry d'Yzeux donated everything he owned in Yzeux to Le Gard Monastery in Crouy-Saint-Pierre. From 1353 the Seigneurie Yzeux belonged to the Le Gard monastery. However, not all of the town seems to have belonged to the monastery, as the Quiéret family held the title of Seigneur of Yzeux from the 14th to the 16th century. The Famechon family carried the title in the 18th century until the French Revolution (1789–1799). In 1793 Yzeux received the status of a municipality (as Iseux ) in the course of the French Revolution and in 1801 the right to local self-government.

Attractions

The Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte church is dedicated to Saints Quiricus and Julitta . Its oldest component is the choir , it bears the year 1679. The door threshold is made from a tombstone with a coat of arms from the 13th century. In 1852 the church was restored.
