Vaux-sur-Somme ( Picard : Veux-su-sonme) is a northern French municipality with 308 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens and in the canton of Corbie and is part of the Communauté de communes du Val de Somme .
geography
The municipality, located in the valley on the northern bank of the Somme and immediately northeast of Corbie , is crossed by the D1 department road in the northern municipality. A bridge (Pont de Vaux) connects Vaux with the municipality of Vaire-sous-Corbie, south of the Somme . The Étangs de La Barette extend as far as Corbie.
history
The community received the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 as an award . In 1918, Manfred von Richthofen , one of Germany's most famous fighter pilots in World War I, was shot down near Vaux-sur-Somme .
