Bosquel ( Picard: L'Boutchi or Ech Boké ; "small forest") is a northern French municipality with 334 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens and belongs to the canton of Ailly-sur-Noye .

Geography and economics

The community on the plateau between the Noye and Selle rivers is about 20 kilometers south of Amiens and five kilometers east of Conty on the former Route nationale 320 . It is crossed by a section of the Chaussée Brunehaut and bordered in the east by the A16 autoroute (with a junction in the municipality).

A metal processing company has set up shop in the mainly agricultural community.

history

The remains of a Gallo-Roman villa were discovered in the municipality. Around the 6th century a priory carried out clearing work. The clearing continued in the 11th, 12th and 12th centuries under the Lords of Conty . A parish developed next to the priory. Industrial development in the textile sector began around 1820. During fighting in June 1940, 95% of the place was destroyed during World War II. A reconstruction plan was drawn up as early as 1941.
