Pissy is a French municipality with 281 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the municipal association Communauté d'agglomération Amiens Métropole .

geography

Pissy is located in the west of the Picardy region, twelve kilometers southwest of Amiens , surrounded by the municipalities of Bovelles , Guignemicourt , Clairy-Saulchoix , Revelles , Fluy and Seux between the European route 44 in the south and the D221 in the north.

history

Before the French Revolution (1789–1799), Pissy was divided into two fiefdoms . One belonged to the Saint-Lucien monastery in Beauvais , which sold the fief in the 16th century. The other belonged to the Saisseval family, who got their first fief through marriage in the 17th century and had Pissy Castle built.

Attractions

The castle of Pissy was built from 1681 in place of an original manor house. The stones for the construction of the castle were obtained from a quarry in today's courtyard . In 1989 the castle was partially registered in the additional directory of the Monuments historiques (historical monument). The castle's ornamental garden was also laid out towards the end of the 17th century and reworked in the 19th century.

The Saint-Fuscien-et-Saint-Gentien church dates back to the 16th century and is dedicated to two local saints who worked in Sains-en-Amiénois . In the church there is a stone statue depicting Christ de pitié , the suffering Jesus Christ . The statue also dates from the 16th century. It was classified as a Monument historique in 1916.

economy

There are controlled designations of origin (AOC) for lamb (Prés-salés de la baie de Somme) in the municipality . The lambs graze in the salty meadows of the Somme Bay .
