Beauval ( Picard : Bieuvo) is a northern commune with 2,095 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Somme department in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the canton of Doullens and is part of the Communauté de communes du Territoire North Picardie .

geography

The municipality, located on Route nationale 25, six kilometers south of Doullens , was served from 1891 by a narrow-gauge branch line from Albert to Doullens operated by the Chemins de fer départementaux de la Somme , which was discontinued in 1949.

history

At the end of the 19th century, phosphate deposits were discovered and developed in Beauval. The textile industry also had a location here.
