Saint-Fuscien ( Picard : Saint-Fuschien) is a northern French municipality with 1170 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens , is part of the Communauté d'agglomération Amiens Métropole and belongs to the canton of Amiens-6 .

geography

The municipality is located in the Amiénois about seven kilometers south of Amiens and about six kilometers west of Boves . The municipality extends beyond the A29 autoroute to the edge of Amiens; a junction is located in the municipality. The hamlets of Le Petit-Many, Petit-Cagny and the Résidence Véronique belong to Saint-Fuscien .

history

Medieval history is closely linked to Saint-Fuscien Abbey .

In the Franco-German War in November 1870 fierce fighting took place. Also in the First World War there was fighting and the place was partially destroyed. The community suffered damage in June 1940 as well. From 1899 to 1935, Saint-Fuscien had an airfield.

  • Newly built church Saint-Fuscien from 1879 and burnt down in 2005 (reconstruction completed in 2008), with furnishings by Jean Alluard (sculptures), Alain Mongrenier and Claude Barre (glass windows).
