Beaucamps-le-Vieux ( Picard : Bieucamp ) is a northern French municipality with 1421 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the Arrondissement of Amiens and is part of the Communauté de communes Somme Sud-Ouest and the canton of Poix-de-Picardie .

geography

The municipality, located around eleven kilometers west of Hornoy-le-Bourg east of the Bresle River , extends along the D96 and in the southwest over the D1015.

history

The border of the Duchy of Normandy ran east of the place until the Napoleonic period. In the Middle Ages, Humbaldus Vetulus is known as Lord of Beaucamps. There was a Benedictine priory in the community . In 1891 the place became the provisional end point of the narrow-gauge railway from Amiens , which was later extended to Aumale , but was discontinued in 1940/1947.
