Essertaux ( Picard : Chartieu) is a northern French municipality with 262 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens and belongs to the canton of Ailly-sur-Noye .
Geography and economics
The community on the plateau between the Noye and Selle rivers is about 19 kilometers south of Amiens and eight kilometers east of Conty at the junction of the former Route nationale 1 and Route nationale 320 ; the municipality is bounded in the west by the A16 autoroute , which has a junction here.
In Essertaux there is an industrial potato production of the Touquet Savor group (production of the La Ratte potato variety ).

Attractions
- Essertaux castle (Château d'Essertaux) built in the second half of the 18th century for the de Béry family and almost completely demolished during the French Revolution ; The central projectile and the ground floor of the main wing with an attached mansard roof are preserved; since 1926 registered as Monument historique ( Base Mérimée PA00116145) [1]
- Church of Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur from 1769, 1969 also registered as a monument historique (Base Mérimée PA00116146) [2]
