Remaisnil Castle

Remaisnil ( Picard : Remini ) is a northern French municipality with 29 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the Arrondissement of Amiens , is part of the Communauté de communes du Territoire Nord Picardie and belongs to the canton of Doullens .

The municipality is located on the northern border of the Somme department and north of the Authie river , which the municipality does not reach, around ten kilometers northwest of Doullens .

Toponymy and History

The place name is derived from the name Haimaraedi mansionile (little house of Haimaraed); in 1100 it is Heriremaisnil.

In 1507 Hutin de Mailly was the master of the place. In Remaisnil, the Wehrmacht set up a rocket launch base during World War II . The castle temporarily belonged to the designer Laura Ashley .
