The church

Lahoussoye ( Picard : Houssoée) is a northern French municipality with 471 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the canton of Corbie and is part of the Communauté de communes du Val de Somme .

geography

The community is located on the D929 département road from Amiens to Bapaume (whose new route it bypasses to the north) around 4.5 km north of Corbie on the heights between the Ancre and the Hallue .

history

The place is mentioned for the first time in the 13th century.

During the Battle of the Hallue in December 1870, Lahoussoye was the headquarters of General Louis Faidherbe .

During the First World War the British troops maintained an airfield here.
