geography
The municipality in Santerre lies south of the Somme , the valley floor of which it approaches within 200 m in the Vallée d'Abancourt, and it extends in the south beyond the A29 autoroute . The distance to Corbie is around nine kilometers via the D122. The axis of the municipality is formed by the departmental road D1029 (former Route nationale 29 ), which is crossed here by the Département road D42 from Démuin to Albert . Lamotte forms the eastern part of the village, Warfusée the western part. The former district of Abancourt has been desolate since the 17th century.
history
The current municipality was created in 1974 from the merger of the municipalities of Lamotte-en-Santerre and Warfusée-Abancourt.
The Départementstraße D1029 is the old Roman road from Amiens to Vermand. A fallen menhir was found near them . In the Middle Ages, Lamotte was under the control of Corbie Abbey . In 1204 Lamotte was raised to an independent parish. In the 15th century, basements ( muches ) were dug under Lamotte . The castle and the leper house in Lamotte were set on fire by the Spanish troops in 1636. In 1656 the village of Abancourt was abandoned after being pillaged. Warfusée Church was rebuilt in 1721. The places were destroyed in the First World War .
The municipalities received the Croix de guerre 1914–1918 as an award .
