Pont-Noyelles ( Picard : Pont-Noéyelle) is a northern French municipality with 840 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the canton of Corbie .
geography
The municipality, which is bounded to the west by the Hallue river , is located around seven kilometers northwest of Corbie at the junction of the former route (now around Pont-Noyelles) of the D929 (from Amiens towards Albert ), D115 to Daours and D30. The distance to Albert is around 16.5 km. The municipality of Querrieu lies on the other side of the Hallue .
history
In the 11th century, the Abbey of Saint-Vaast in Arras settled farmers from the Beauvaisis in Pont, who worked the boggy area in the Hallue valley together with the people of Querrieu. In 1768 the buildings of the monastery courtyard of Saint-Vaast in Pont were abandoned. In 1789 the property of Saint-Vaast was transferred to national ownership and then sold.
In December 1870 the Battle of the Hallue took place in the area , to which the Colonne Faidherbe (Faidherbe column) commemorates.
