The lock

Bovelles ( Picard : Bovelle ) is a northern French municipality with 434 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Somme in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens , is part of the Communauté d'agglomération Amiens Métropole and belongs to the canton of Ailly-sur-Somme .

geography

Bovelles is around 12.5 km west of Amiens and 9 km east of Molliens-Dreuil .

history

The castle was built after 1750 as the residence of General Jean-Baptiste Vaquette . During the French Revolution , Bavelles was temporarily the capital of the cantons. The new church was consecrated in 1870 after the chapel outside of the village was damaged. The community was evacuated during World War II .
