geography

The municipality in the former Forêt de la Vicogne lies on the limestone plateau around 9.5 km southeast of Bernaville , ten km east of Domart-en-Ponthieu and 25 km north of Amiens . The disused railway line from Amiens to Doullens runs just west of the municipality.

history

In the early Middle Ages, the Benedictines of Corbie Abbey were the landlords of the place, which was already known as Bonna villa in the 7th century . They were replaced in 1197 by the Templars from Fieffes (today the municipality of Fieffes-Montrelet ), who were followed by the Maltese after its dissolution . A Romanesque church was built in 1085 and renovated in 1499. In 1636 Bonneville, where a strong Protestant community lived, was sacked by Spanish troops. In 1792 the property of the Lord of Bonneville, including the castle, was sold as national property. In 1814 the place was sacked by Cossacks. The newly built school was opened in 1870. After the church was in danger of collapsing, a new one was built and consecrated in 1899. In 1918 Bonneville was bombed from a German plane. In August 1944, seven resistance fighters were shot.
