history

There was a Gallo-Roman camp in the village, from which the community name is derived. A Benedictine priory, dependent on the Abbey of Saint-Michel in Le Tréport , had stood in Camps since 1136 . This and the Johanniterkommende from Saint-Maulvis had a share in the rule. The community owned a post office on the important Paris-Calais road. In 1832 she suffered from a cholera epidemic .
