In 1443 the place is mentioned for the first time under the name "Eichholtze" in an income and rights list of the Cologne Apostelstifts. The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows two courtyards and names them "Eichholts" . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1825 shows five separate floor plans under the name "Eichholz" in a delimited courtyard .
