- The 30-year-old Briton Carl Fogarty wins the drivers' championship on Ducati ahead of the Australian Troy Corser (also Ducati) and the New Zealander Aaron Slight ( Honda ) and can thus successfully defend the title he won last year. In the constructors' championship, Ducati prevailed ahead of Honda and Kawasaki .
