List of the largest companies in the world

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of the largest companies in the world shows the largest companies in the world according to their sales and market capitalization . In the table of companies with the highest turnover in the world, only listed companies are taken into account, whereas non-listed companies are only included if they publish a so-called Form 10-K annual report.

Lists of the largest companies are drawn up by the US business magazines Forbes and Fortune and the British company PricewaterhouseCoopers , among others . Above all, this includes Fortune Global 500 , a ranking of the 500 top-selling companies in the world. Forbes Magazine offers an alternative, integrative approach that takes into account the four different indicators of sales, market capitalization, assets and net profit at the same time with the Forbes Global 2000 list , which only takes listed companies into account.

According to Fortune's definitions and statements , unlisted companies are only included in the Fortune Global 500 list if they publish a so-called Form 10-K annual report. For this reason, Cargill and Koch Industries are not listed, with estimated annual sales of $ 109.6 billion and $ 100.0 billion in 2010, the two largest privately held US companies. For the same reason, a number of large international companies are also missing, including Saudi Aramco from the Middle East . With an estimated annual turnover of 478 billion US dollars (2015), the state-owned oil company from Saudi Arabia is one of the 10 largest companies in the world. In 2018, Saudi Aramco was included as the company prepares to go public.

Fortune Global 500 - Largest Companies by Revenue

The table shows the top 100 companies by revenue published by Fortune magazine in June 2020 in the Fortune Global 500 list. The headquarters , net income, number of employees , industry and managing director are also listed . The numbers are in billion US dollars and relate to fiscal year 2019 or 2020. Employee numbers relate to the corresponding fiscal year (usually 2019 or 2020).
