history

The oldest written report about the village belonging to the Rosa Coeli monastery was made in 1257, when Vranovice was parished to the rebuilt church in Briwiz . The village was built on the floodplain of the old Šatava at the intersection of the Amber Road from Poland to Hungary with other trade routes. After the monastery was closed, the Czech Vice Chancellor Jiří Žabka from Limberg bought the village in the middle of the 15th century. Burian Žabka sold in 1566 the goods Prštice and Vlasatice including Vranovice to Albrecht Černohorský von Boskowitz . After his death, his brother Johann Schembera Černohorský von Boskowitz inherited the property. He sold the rule Vlasatice-Prštice in 1572 to Franz Graf von Thurn. After the Battle of the White Mountain , Cardinal Franz Seraph von Dietrichstein acquired the village. In the course of time the place name changed to Prennwiz or Brannowitz . The inhabitants of the village lived from agriculture and viticulture. In the hoof register of 1656 81 properties are noted for the village. 1790 lived in the place 562 people. On July 7th, 1839 the main South Moravian railway line from Brno to Lundenburg was inaugurated. In 1840 a big fire broke out in Branovice, caused by flying sparks from the railway. 7 residents died; 20 houses, 37 chalets and 27 barns fell to rubble. In 1849 a cholera epidemic claimed 34 victims.

After the abolition of patrimonial Branowitz / Branovice formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Auspitz and the judicial district Židlochovice. In 1855 cholera broke out again. 87 residents died within six weeks. In 1859 and 1860 Branovice was hit again by two major fires. After the Princes Dietrichstein died out , the Counts of Herberstein inherited the property in 1862 . After the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary was completed, Vranovice established its own parish. The sugar factory was built in 1872, the road to Ivaň was built in 1887 and the road to Velké Němčice was built in 1899 . In 1890 the community had 1,435 inhabitants. In 1895 traffic on the Vranovice – Pohořelice railway began . The Šatava was regulated at the end of the 19th century and passed Vranovice to Svratka. Between 1921 and 1936 the Břeclav – Brno railway line was expanded to double tracks. In 1923 the municipality name Branovice was changed to Vranovice . It was wrongly assumed that the place name is related to the carrion crows that often occur here. In 1930 there were 1911 people in the parish. Between 1948 and 1960 the municipality belonged to the Okres Židlochovice. After its abolition, Vranovice was added to the Okres Břeclav . Since January 1st 2007 the municipality belongs to the Okres Brno-venkov . The Vranovice commune has a coat of arms and a banner.
