List of Tyrolean noble families
The list of Tyrolean noble families contains the most important Tyrolean noble families and follows the list in the registers of Goldegg and Brandis (Tyrolean eagle evergreen crown of honor). From Hye , the sexes were supplemented with several coats of arms. The Tyrolean nobility comprised the (today's) South Tyroleans (with the Tyrol Castle near Merano), North and East Tyroleans and the Vorarlberg families. Likewise, many noble or patrician families from neighboring areas such as Northern Italy, Switzerland, Bavaria and Salzburg were entered in the Tyrolean aristocratic registers. With the ruling Habsburgs, several Tyrolean families emigrated to Austria (above and below the Enns) or to Bohemia, especially after 1620 in the course of the counterformation.
The list is an alphabetical overview of Tyrolean noble families. It contains information about name variants, the time of ennoblement and inclusion in the Tyrolean aristocratic registers, origin, distribution and well-known personalities of the sexes, see also explanation . Where there is no coat of arms, the position of the image is given from Johann Siebmacher's coat of arms book (1605 for colored or 1701/1705 for black and white images); see web links below.
