Musical theater
- February 21 : The world premiere of the opera Abessalom and Eteri by Sacharij Paliaschwili takes place at the Georgian National Theater in Tbilisi. A motif of the composition will later be incorporated into the national anthem of Georgia . In the opera, Paliashvili combines national Georgian folk tunes with classical European music.
- March 18 : World premiere of the opera Gaudeamus by Engelbert Humperdinck in Darmstadt
- April 5 : The Singspiel Das Dorf ohne Glocke by Eduard Künneke based on the libretto by August Neidhart is premiered at the Friedrich-Wilhelmstädtisches Theater in Berlin. A Hungarian legend by Árpád Pásztor served as a literary model .
- April 10 : World premiere of the musical comedy Masques et bergamasques by Gabriel Fauré in Monte Carlo
- April 16 : World premiere of the opera Don Ranudo de Colibrados by Othmar Schoeck in Zurich.
- June 25 : The operetta Fräulein Puck by Walter Kollo is premiered at the Munich Volkstheater .
- July 22nd : Manuel de Falla's ballet Der Dreispitz by the Ballets Russes is premiered in the Alhambra Theater in London, set by Pablo Picasso and with the choreography by Léonide Massine . Performers include Tamara Karsawina and the choreographer Léonide Massine.
- October 6 : World premiere of the operetta Apple Blossoms by Fritz Kreisler at the Globe Theater in New York.
- October 10 : The opera Die Frau ohne Schatten by Richard Strauss premieres at the Vienna State Opera. The libretto comes from Hugo von Hofmannsthal , based on the conversations of German emigrants with Johann Wolfgang von Goethe . A few days later, the premiere of a second rehearsal takes place at the Semperoper under Fritz Reiner in Dresden. The opera is reluctant to gain acceptance on German and international stages.
- October 21 : World premiere of the opera Fennimore and Gerda by Frederick Delius at the Opera House in Frankfurt am Main.
- October 26 : Premiere of the opera Revolution Wedding by Eugen d'Albert in Leipzig.
