- Pyongyang / North Korea : The country accuses the United States of spying flights. The Korean Central News Agency reports that the country is ready for war against the United States and is expecting nuclear war.
- Warsaw / Poland : The government coalition made up of the Social Democrats ( SLD ) and the moderate Peasant Party ( PSL ) has failed. Leszek Miller (SLD), the Prime Minister asks President Aleksander Kwaśniewski to dismiss Agriculture Minister Jarosław Kalinowski (PSL).
- Zagreb / Croatia : The country joins the Central European Free Trade Agreement CEFTA.

- Iraq : Baghdad reports the discovery of previously lost biological warfare agents . 157 R-400 bombs containing anthrax , aflatoxin (fungal toxins) or the poison botulin are currently being excavated , according to the scientific adviser to President Saddam Hussein , Lieutenant General Amer el Saadi . Eight have already been recovered. UN inspectors have already taken samples. So far, according to Iraqi information, 1.5 tons of the nerve agent VX have been destroyed.
- Iraq : The country begins destroying six more Al-Samoud-2 missiles . According to the UN, Baghdad also wants to report on allegedly destroyed biological warfare agents such as anthrax for the first time .

- Cúcuta / Colombia : Seven people died when a car bomb exploded in Cúcuta.
- Germany : The train drivers' union (GDL) announced that on Thursday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:45 a.m., all train drivers across the country will stop working.
