List of motorways and motorways in Switzerland
The list of motorways and motorways in Switzerland includes all roads in Switzerland that are signaled either as motorways or as motorways .
Definitions
In Switzerland, a distinction is made between motorways and motorways (different signaling). However, the numbering (white digits on a red background) is used across the board. For example, the road signaled as a road has both sections as a car road and sections as a motorway. Furthermore, car road sections operated by cantons are often numbered blue as main roads. Based on the numbers, neither the expansion status nor the owner of the routes (canton, federal) can be identified and therefore shown separately in the list below.
Highway
Motorways in Switzerland are roads in the sense of a national road, 1st class. They are always free of intersections, directionally separated and provided with at least two lanes per direction. A vignette is generally required on national motorways , while cantonal motorways are exempt. Motorways, whether national or cantonal, are signposted with the signal 4.01 Autobahn (white road with white bridge on a green background). Unless otherwise stated, the maximum speed is 120 km / h for light vehicles.
Motorway
Motorways in Switzerland are 2nd class roads. Like motorways, they are laid out without intersections, but in contrast to motorways only partially directionally separated and often single-lane. Similar to the motorways, there is a general obligation to use a vignette on national motorways , while cantonal motorways are exempt. The signalization is the signal 4.03 Autostrasse (white car on a green background). Unless otherwise stated, the maximum speed is 100 km / h for light vehicles.

National motorways and motorways generally require a vignette (apart from a very few and specially signaled exceptions). As part of the national road network , they are the responsibility of the Federal Roads Office .
Motorways and feeders are listed, but not connections. According to the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO), regardless of the fact that some connections (such as Kerzers) can be as complex as feeders (such as St. Gallen-Kreuzbleiche).
