description
The Berliet GBC 8 KT was developed in 1956 and has been in active service with the French Army ever since . The truck was derived from the civilian model variant Gazelle from Berliet. Since then around 18,000 copies have been produced worldwide. The vehicle is or was used by the Portuguese and Algerian armed forces, but only the 4 × 4 variants were exported to these countries. The 6x6 version was used by the Austrian armed forces as a tactical truck and as an artillery tractor. In addition, the GBC 8 KT was produced under license in China . Berliet has now been taken over by Renault and the group has improved the GBC 8 KT. This modernized variant was named GBC 180 and is also used by the French armed forces.
