Grunewald is a village in the Wipperfeld district of the city of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ). In addition to this Grunewald, Wipperfürth also has the villages of the same name Grunewald in the Agathaberg district and Grunewald in the Hammern district .

Location and description

The place is located in the southwest of the city of Wipperfürth on the city limits to Kürten on the federal road 506 , which was an important military route between Cologne and Dortmund in the Middle Ages . The place lies on the watershed between the Große Dhünn and the Kürtener Sülz . The Sülzüberleitung passes underground to the west of the village. Neighboring towns are Frösseln , Ente , Sommerberg and the town of Laudenberg, which belongs to Kürten .

The place belongs to the municipal electoral district 160 and thus to the electoral district Wipperfeld .

In the Prussian first recording from 1844, at the place of the village of Grunewald, a delimited courtyard space is drawn in without any names. The place name Grunewald is used from the topographical map ( Prussian New Admission ) from 1893 to 1896.
