List of intercity lines (Germany)
The list of intercity lines contains all currently operated Intercity and EuroCity lines named by DB Fernverkehr . 23 lines will be operated in the 2020 timetable.
Explanation
The list is structured as follows:
First of all, all lines are given their official names. However, individual lines are divided into individual parts that differ slightly from the official line number, so that the course of the line is easier to understand. In the column curve all stops are called, who operate the trains. Stations that are only served by individual trains because they pass through or are bypassed are shown in italics . Line branches and wings are shown by divided or merged lines or in separate tables. The text above the tables explains more about this. Additional relief and reinforcement trains are not part of this list.
To the internal links:
This list shows all stops of the respective lines, so the individual tables are very long per se. Therefore, all additions to the station names that do not result from the context are dispensed with:
- “Hbf”, “Bf”, “HB”, “Centraal”, “Centrale”, “Główny”, “St. n. ”etc. are generally left out, even if there are other stops in the respective city, which must then be specified more precisely.
- All regional additions such as (Breisgau), (Westf), (Main), "am Rhein" or "im Pongau" are omitted, provided there is no risk of confusion. For example, it can be assumed that Frankfurt am Main is not crossed between Berlin and Warsaw , while Frankfurt (Oder) is not meant between Berlin and Basel .
- Name additions chosen by the cities themselves, such as “Lutherstadt”, are also left out in order to make the route easier to read.

Line 17
IC line 17 was newly created on December 15, 2019. This is a service that has been operated every two hours since March 9, 2020. Between Rostock and Berlin, IC line 17 is the successor to Interregio line 14, which operated here until 2002 . The individual pairs of trains on IC line 28 are replaced by line 17 here. On the section between Berlin and Dresden, the line supplements the heavily used Eurocity line 27 to Prague and connects Berlin Brandenburg Airport to long-distance traffic after its opening.
Since the multiple units of the Stadler KISS type used on IC line 17 and taken over by the Austrian Westbahn are being serviced in Vienna, a pair of trains runs overnight between Rostock and Vienna via Nuremberg six times a week.

A third partial line between Berlin and Rostock was added to the newly created IC line 17 in December 2019.
For operational reasons, due to the priority allocation of the ICE-T equipped with ETCS to lines 15 and 50, some pairs of trains on line 28 were switched to Intercity . The IC trains ran normally in time with the ICE line with almost identical travel times. This also included the three year-round IC train pairs 2300/2301, 2302/2303 and 2355/2356 from Berlin via Leipzig, Jena and Augsburg to Munich. The pair of trains 2355/2356 drove from / to Rostock.
