The Renault Type U (a) was an early passenger car model from Renault . The Renault Type U (e) was a modification . They were also called 10 CV .

description

Renault presented this model as the successor to the Renault Type Q at the Paris Motor Show in December 1903. On February 9, 1904, the national registration authority granted approval. Production ended in the same year. Successor was Renault Type Y .

A two-cylinder engine with a 100 mm bore and 100 mm stroke produced 10 hp from a displacement of 1571 cm³ . One source gives a bore of 90 to 100 mm, a stroke of 100 to 120 mm, a displacement of 1272 to 1885 cm³ and 10 to 16 hp. In contrast to the smaller Renault Type T, the side-mounted water cooler had twelve cooling elements. The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The top speed was specified as 37 km / h to 65 km / h, depending on the gear ratio.

Renault Type U (a)

With a wheelbase of 220 cm, the vehicle was 330 cm long and 150 cm wide. The chassis weighed 600 kg, the complete vehicle 950 kg. The choice was a tonneau . The vehicle cost 7800 francs in December 1903 .

Renault Type U (e)

This model was added at the end of 1904. The wheelbase was longer. The only known body shape was a sedan .
