Mercedes-Benz CLK

Under the designation CLK of were middle class associated coupes and convertibles from Mercedes-Benz offered.

The previous model built until the end of 1996 was based on the 124 series of the E-Class and was considered a vehicle in the upper middle class . The CLK was based on the mid-range C-Class and was called CLK (C for Coupé, L for light, K for short); In the first generation, it was externally adapted to the E-Class of the 210 series. The abbreviations L and K were already introduced for the SLK (Sport-Leicht-Kurz) and the larger SL (Super-Leicht).

More than 700,000 vehicles were delivered between mid-1997 and the end of 2008.

So far, two series have borne the name CLK :

In May 2009 the model change for the CLK Coupé took place; the cabriolet was still available until the A 207 appeared in March 2010. In 2010 there were 37 new CLK registrations in Germany.

The successor to the C 209 bears the designation C 207 and is sold again as the E-Class Coupé after 13 years. Despite this renaming, like its predecessors, it is largely based on the C-Class (204 series) .
