Mercedes-Benz SL-Class
The SL-Class refers to the vehicles from Mercedes-Benz that have the letters "SL" in the model name. These are mainly roadsters , in earlier series there were also coupé versions.
The term SL-Class was coined and derived from the newly introduced term E-Class in the mid-1990s . Previously, vehicles in this class were often simply called "SL models". The meaning of the abbreviation “SL” is unclear: It either stands for “Sport Leicht” or “Super Leicht”. Daimler AG uses both explanations (see Sport Leicht or Super Leicht ? ).
By the end of 2009, since the introduction of the first SL roadster in 1957, over 650,000 sports cars had been handed over to customers worldwide.
