- Kiev / Ukraine : In the Ukrainian capital and other cities , several hundred thousand people are demonstrating against President Viktor Yanukovych's "anti-EU policy" . There are bloody clashes with the police and special units of the Interior Ministry. The opposition, headed by Vitali Klitschko , has announced a general strike for December 2nd . The opposition is calling for President Yanukovych to resign.
- Reykjavík / Iceland : Criminal hackers attack the mobile phone company Vodafone in Iceland and publish 70,000 SMS . This also includes text messages from prominent ministers and members of parliament.
- Xichang / China : The Chang'e-3 space probe is launched on board a Langer Marsch 3B launch vehicle . The moon rover called Yutu was in operation on the lunar surface until August 3, 2016.
- Zagreb / Croatia : In a referendum, almost two thirds of the electorate vote for an amendment to the Croatian constitution that excludes same-sex marriages .

- Mogadishu / Somalia : The Somali Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon is deposed by a vote of no confidence.
- Stockholm / Sweden : The US anti-chemical weapons activist Paul F. Walker , the Palestinian human rights activist Raji Sourani , the Congolese gynecologist Denis Mukwege and the Swiss entomologist Hans Rudolf Herren be with the Right Livelihood Award excellent.

- Nanterre / France : Experts commissioned by the French judiciary to examine samples of the remains of Yasser Arafat rule out poisoning with polonium as the cause of death. A Swiss group of experts had previously determined high levels of polonium; the expertise of a Russian group is still pending.
- Pyongyang / North Korea : North Korea's ruler Kim Jong-un disempowered his uncle Jang Song-thaek and deposed him as deputy chairman of the National Defense Commission . Two of his confidants were publicly executed in mid-November 2013.

- Brussels / Belgium : In connection with the Libor scandal , the European Commission imposes fines of more than 1.7 billion euros on six international financial institutions for participating in illegal cartels on euro interest rate derivatives (EIRD) and yen interest rate derivatives (YIRD) ( Citigroup , Deutsche Bank , JPMorgan Chase , Royal Bank of Scotland , RP Martin and Société Générale ). Because of the leniency program, Barclays and UBS have been completely waived the fine.
- Chicago / United States : The US security company Trustwave Holdings reports on criminal hackers who stole around 1.6 million passwords for websites and 320,000 login details for e-mail accounts via a botnet , mostly to Facebook , Google and LinkedIn , Odnoklassniki, Twitter and Yahoo.
- Geoje / South Korea : The Prelude FLNG is the world's largest ship or floating structure.
- Luxembourg / Luxembourg : Xavier Bettel is sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Luxembourg.
- Münster / Germany : Scientists at the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology are starting a project in collaboration with the tire manufacturer Continental to extract rubber from the weed dandelion .

- Sanaa / Yemen : At least 25 people died in a suicide attack with a car bomb on the Ministry of Defense, including three employees of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
- Washington, DC / United States : The Washington Post reports on the NSA scandal about the daily collection of around five billion data records about the locations of cell phones worldwide . The Location Area Code (LAC), the Cell-ID , the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) and the Visitor Location Register (VLR) including the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) and the Mobile Subscriber ISDN Number ( MSISDN).

- Hamburg / Germany : Hurricane Xaver in northern Germany causes several successive storm surges in addition to major traffic obstructions , the heaviest of which leads to a significantly higher water level in Hamburg than in the flood disaster in 1962 , but the dykes and flood protection measures are sufficient. - Potsdam / Germany : The Federal Police confirmed press reports that between January and October 2013 a total of 481 of around 7,000 ticket machines in Germany were broken into or blown up, including 120 machines in Hesse alone. The special unit GSG-9 last captured four Eastern European criminals in Cologne-Sülz on December 1, 2013 , who are said to be responsible for 83 break-ins.
- Seoul / South Korea : In response to the expansion of the Chinese air surveillance zone in the East China Sea, the South Korean government is for its part expanding the Air Defense Identification Zone to the area south of the submarine Socotra Rock . The regulation is expected to come into force on December 15th.
