NOS Alive , formerly known as Optimus Alive, is a music festival that has been held annually in the small Portuguese town of Algés since 2007 . The organizer is the concert promoter Everything Is New , the eponymous main sponsor is the telecommunications company NOS (formerly Optimus ). The venue for the festival is the Passeio Marítimo de Algés on the banks of the Tagus .

The more well-known bands usually play on the main stage ( Palco NOS Stage ), while more up-and-coming names are presented on the smaller stage ( Palco Sagres Stage , named after the Portuguese brewery Sagres , until 2016 Palco Heineken Stage after the Dutch brewery Heineken ). On stage Palco NOS Clubbing Stage set following the concerts then international and Portuguese on DJ team. In 2012, for example, these were Brodinski, Busy P, James Murphy + Pat Mahoney, Seth Troxler, Art Department, Moullinex + Xinobi, Carbon Airways, among 16 others.

After its inception, Alive! to one of the most important rock festivals in Portugal. The British music magazine NME listed it among the top 12 European festivals in 2009. In 2012 the festival was also praised by the NME.

Of the 155,000 visitors in 2012, 16,000 came from abroad, from 53 different countries, including 7,000 from Great Britain .
