The Renault Juvaquatre was a passenger car model that Renault presented in 1937 and produced in modifications until 1960. The type codes were Type AEB and Type BFK .

description

The national licensing authority granted its approval on February 18, 1937. Renault had not previously offered a vehicle of this size.

It was a copy of the Opel Kadett ; The Juvaquatre used like this one - and for the first time at Renault - a self-supporting body and front independent wheel suspension .

Type AEB 1

These were prototypes . The water-cooled four - cylinder engine with a 58 mm bore and 95 mm stroke had a displacement of 1004 cm³ . The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The wheelbase was 230 cm and the track 116 cm. The turning circle was given as 9 meters. The two-door sedan offered space for four people. The doors were hung at the front.

Type AEB 2

The series version was approved on August 3, 1937. The vehicle was 360 cm long and 140 cm wide. It weighed 725 kg or 750 kg, depending on the source. The price in October 1937 was 16,500 francs for the Luxe version and 18,500 francs for the Grand Luxe . From April 8, 1938, bumpers were installed. The prices were now 19,900 francs and 20,900 francs, respectively.

A weight of 760 kg is given for 1939. In March 1939, a convertible sedan named SAPRAR was added. From May 30, 1939, a coupe without rear side windows was added to the range for 24,900 francs.

Type AEB 3

This was the four-door version that was sold from May 15, 1939. It is noteworthy that the front doors were hinged at the back. The price as a Grand Luxe was 20,900 francs.

Type BFK 1

The successor to the Type AEB 2 was this model, which was approved on November 28, 1939. The change concerned the brakes. Two-door sedans were available as Grand Luxe and Très Grand Luxe , convertible sedans and coupé.

Type BFK 2

Also on November 28, 1939, the four-door successor to the AEB 3 type with other brakes was approved. The versions Grand Luxe and Très Grand Luxe were available .

Type BFKE

During the Second World War , there was a petrol shortage in France. This model, which was registered on December 2, 1940, had an electric motor . It stayed with prototypes.

After 1945

In 1946 production of the four-door sedan continued. There was also a panel van called Break Juvaquatre . Production of the sedan ended in July 1948. At the end of 1950, a four-seater station wagon with rear side windows based on the panel van supplemented the range, manufactured by the Société des Usines Chausson . From the end of 1953, the more modern engine from the Renault 4 CV with 746 cm³ displacement was used.

In 1956 the name changed to Break Dauphinoise . The four-cylinder engine from the Renault Dauphine with 845 cc powered the vehicle. These models can be recognized by the rhombus in the radiator grille . Production ended in 1960.
