The Renault Novaquatre was a passenger car model of the interwar period of Renault . The type codes were Type BDJ , Type BDR and Type BFH .

The national licensing authority approved the first version on October 21, 1937. The model was a slightly cheaper variant of the Renault Primaquatre . Series production ended in 1940 due to the war . Prototypes were made until 1944.

Type BDJ 1

The water-cooled four - cylinder engine with 85 mm bore and 105 mm stroke developed 48 hp from a displacement of 2383 cm³ . The rear wheels were driven by a cardan shaft .

The grille was rounded on the sides and divided vertically. There were five horizontal vents on the sides of the hood. The one-piece front bumper was initially bent down in the middle. In March 1938 it was replaced by a straight bumper.

The chassis had a wheelbase of 271 cm, a track width of 130 cm and weighed 700 kg. The vehicles were 420 cm long, 160 cm wide, weighed 1140 kg and had a turning circle of 10.5 meters. At first there were only five-seat sedans with four doors. In April 1938, a business limousine was added to the range.

Type BDR 1 and Type BDR 2

These two versions, BDR 1 and BDR 2, received their approval on September 15, 1938 and were presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 1938 . They only differed in terms of the carburetor and the brakes . With the same track width, the wheelbase was increased to 283 cm. The vehicle length increased by the same amount to 432 cm. In contrast to the previous version, the radiator grille was now divided horizontally. The range continued to include four-door sedans and business sedans.

Type BFH 1

The BFH 1 version received approval on April 11, 1940. A reduced piston stroke of 80 mm resulted in a displacement of 1813 cm³ and 38 hp. The wheelbase and track width remained unchanged. The steering wheel shift was noticeable .

Prototype 107 E.

The four-cylinder engine had a displacement of about 2000 cc. At the front of the vehicle, the headlights were set into the outside of the fenders . Instead of a radiator grille, six wide chrome strips were attached. This made the vehicle similar to the Peugeot 203 . However, the front fenders did not reach into the front doors. Four-door sedans and convertibles are known .
