The Route nationale 100 , or N 100 or RN 100 for short , is a French national road that was laid in 1824 between Remoulins and Avignon . It goes back to the route impériale 120. Their length was 22 kilometers. In 1837 it was extended beyond Avignon with a break by the N96 to Malijai to 139 kilometers. In 1854 there was a further extension to the Italian border at Col de Larche , where from 1928 it merged into Strada statale 21 to Borgo San Dalmazzo . Their total length was now 259 kilometers. In 1961 the N100 was relocated due to the commissioning of the Barrage de Serre-Ponçon , as its route was in the congestion area. It took over the N100 B , while the N100 C received part of the old N100 route north of Selonnet in return . In addition, it swapped its route with the N100 A. This reduced the total length by 20.5 kilometers. In 1973 it was reduced to the section between Remoulins and La Brillanne and since 2006 it has only connected junction 23 of the A9 with the southern bypass of Avignon.

The Route nationale 100 A , or N 100 A or RN 100 A for short , was a branch of the N100, which appeared in 1875 in the Durance valley as a connection to the N94. More details about this in the main article N100 A . It became the N100 C in 1933 and a new N100 A was created elsewhere as an alternative route to the N100 north of Digne-les-Bains with a length of 27 kilometers. In 1961 the N100 and N100 A exchanged their routes and the length changed to 32.5 kilometers. In 1973 this route was then phased out. From 1974 to 1978 there was another N100 A , which connected the N100 with the N86 as the east bypass from Remoulins. It was renumbered to N101 and downgraded to D6101 in 2006.

Their length was 18 kilometers. It arose from the Gc7 and Gc7bis. In 1961, the route was of the N100 and N100, a new B from parts of N542 and GC7 A formed. The length of the new route was 39 kilometers. This was downgraded in 1973.
