1In the opinion of the City Council of Siegen, the honorary citizenship granted to Adolf Hitler by British military law expired after the Second World War. Due to repeated political discussions, it was also posthumously revoked after a citizen's application by resolution of the city council on August 29, 2007. Since the 1980s, several attempts by citizens to posthumously withdraw honorary citizenship had been rejected in the city council.
